• As indicated, treatment is a little more extensive than other commonplace dental procedures. The process of resolving inflammation and infection at the center of the tooth can be completed in a single visit.
• The procedure involves accessing the inside of the tooth and removing damaged tissues. The root canals themselves are then sterilized, reshaped, and sealed off to prevent reinfection. The second visit involves restoring the tooth with a dental crown. 
• Treatment is well-tolerated with a precise anesthetic to numb the site. 
• Patients express immediate relief from painful pressure and discomfort. 
• Root canal therapy is the only way to preserve a badly decayed or otherwise severely damaged tooth.

These options include sedative methods like nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”). Nitrous oxide is safe, appropriate even for pediatric patients.
